Why we need to Keep Kent Breastfeeding

Dramatic cuts are planned to the provision of breastfeeding support services in Kent. Currently, breastfeeding support groups are run by PS Breastfeeding CIC. This contract comes to an end in January 2018 but was extended after the original consultation was revoked and then re-released (with little to no changes) on 23rd October 2017.

The only way to make your voice heard is to respond to the Kent County Council consultation by 3rd December 2017.

The cuts will involve huge changes to the way breastfeeding support services are provided to families in Kent.

This website has been created to

(1) Let Kent families know about the proposed changes

(2) Raise objections and pose questions about the proposed changes, and

(3) Encourage everyone and anyone who will be affected (mums, dads, grandparents, health professionals and peer supporters alike) to respond to the Kent County Council consultation, which closes on 3rd December 2017.

It will also be a place to help plan, co-ordinate and launch campaign efforts to show Kent County Council that their proposed changes will not only harm breastfeeding relationships, but also potentially hit the low breastfeeding rates in the county – and indeed, UK-wide.

We CAN show Kent County Council that their planned cuts are short-sighted and WILL cost more in the long-term.
